As a model for children or actor, she got the role as Regan the possessed girl, out of 600 candidates, for The Exorcist, (1973). Linda got the Golden Globe and was on course to win an Academy Award. In 1977, she purchased cocaine on the pressure of her peers at 18 years old, this resulted in being arrested and sentenced to three years probation. The widely-publicized bust for drugs caused Linda to be banned from Hollywood which slowed her progress. Her film career soon slowed down to B-movies and occasional television guest appearances only
